In conjunction with the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on Global Road Safety, yesterday we provided a hands-on look at one of our “Truck of the Future” trucks. The City of New York’s Department of Citywide Administrative Services, a TSR partner, is currently piloting one and graciously provided access to the truck to showcase how the technology dramatically improves road safety. We can’t thank them enough for their partnership.
In the spirit of partnerships, we’re also excited that our work with the USDOT’s Volpe Center is taking shape as we strive to make Direct Vision cab design a fleet industry standard in the U.S. You can learn more below.
And as our “Save the Date” below states, we hope all our partners and members can join
us this September in NYC for our annual meeting.
Thanks again for all of your continued partnerships.

Together for Safer Roads' Annual Meeting -
September 21-22, 2022
Join us in NYC the night of September 21 for our annual meeting kickoff reception followed by a day of programming on September 22. We’ll bring together members and partners to discuss our work, explore opportunities to substantially improve road safety, and develop program partnerships to save lives. There will also be "working sessions" where private and public sector experts can present on their work with TSR in guided discussions.
While we finalize locations, please make note of our meeting occurring September 21-22 during UNGA (the 77th session of the UN General Assembly) and following Concordia’s annual summit. We’ll be in touch soon with more information. We have some exciting events planned for the annual meeting and hope to see you there.

The U.S. DOT Volpe Center and TSR Teaming Up to Make Direct Vision Cab Design a
Fleet Industry Standard in the U.S.
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Volpe Center, whose mission is to address the nation’s most pressing and complex transportation challenges, is a key partner in our effort to make direct vision cab design commonplace in the United States.
Their VIEW app, a free, smartphone-based blind zone measurement tool enables professionals to measure blind zones on their fleet vehicles and will be used to help self-certify truck safety.
Members of their VIEW team recently joined us for a panel
discussion at the Government Fleet Expo & Conference in Detroit, MI in May where they presented on Volpe research linking truck blind zones to the risk of striking vulnerable road users, as well as on the in-development VIEW blind zone estimation app.
The VIEW app development team will be working on three initiatives this summer and are excited to be partnering with our member fleets to measure vehicles and perform data collection ride-alongs this summer.
