Hi Friend,

More than 40 speakers across 9 sessions—this year's Vision Zero Fleet Forum is even bigger and better than last year's with technology leading the way. From Direct Vision to autonomous vehicles and tools to help end distracted driving, we live in an exciting time for road safety but also a dangerous time with road deaths at all time highs. Join us the 18th and 19th and let's work together towards Vision Zero.

We're also beginning to plan for our annual conference in September, which will fall during the timeframe of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) September 13-27 in NYC. We have exciting plans for our conference with it maybe being an in-person event.

From being asked to attend SXSW and Concordia Lexington and to being honorably mentioned in Fast Company, which you can read about below, we continue to help position our partners and our award-winning work in road safety as ground-breaking. Thank you for joining us.

Artist Chosen by Connect Communities for Community Project Near Hillcroft Avenue in Houston

Congratulations to Iraqi-born artist Ammar Alobaidi for being chosen by Connect Communities to engage residents and design and implement a community vision near Hillcroft Avenue, a project near to our hearts and that we’ve been working on since 2019.

The art project will draw attention to the international neighborhood of Gulfton and will increase driver awareness of the many pedestrians using the streets and encourage drivers to slow down.

This is in response to Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Asphalt Art Study that examined the impact of art and streetscape by comparing historical crash rates and real-time behavior of motorists and pedestrians at 22 asphalt art sites before and after the projects were installed.

Major findings included:

·  50% drop in traffic crashes involving pedestrians or cyclists
·  37% drop in crashes leading to injuries
·  27% increase in drivers yielding to pedestrians with the right-of-way
·  25% drop in potentially dangerous conflicts between drivers and pedestrians

The art project is part of the street’s ongoing interventions to improve safety for all types of transportation users.
